If you live in Georgia, Alabama or northern Florida (or in nearby parts), and you write for kids or dream of it, mark your calendars: March 10-11 is the annual Southern Breeze regional conference for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. This year is our Alabama conference (in Birmingham), which is my favorite conference.
The Alabama conference has all the nuts and bolts of the business of children’s writing, but there are also tons of sessions for improving writing skill. For example, in addition to the usual slew of editors and agents, Debbie Dadey will talk about world building; Irene Latham will give tips for setting up scenes; Heather Montgomery and I will be offering a 3 hour intensive on writing about science and nature. Check out the whole line-up here, and register soon, before the sessions you want fill up!
