It was great fun to walk into Little Shop of Stories and see Edible Science on the shelf! I was even told that it is on their list for school book fairs this fall. Science! Yum!

All Over This Week
I had a great time at GLMA doing author speed-dating with librarians in Peachtree City on Monday. I hope to see a great group at West GA GYSTC's Science and Literacy Day on Thursday. And then I'm off to the 21st Century Children's Nonfiction Conference in NY for the weekend. What a whirlwind!

If you're attending GSTA in Macon this week, drop by Ballroom B on Friday at 3:00 for my session on testing. Click here if you are looking for the materials from that presentation.
Follow-up to Literacy Week
Cobb EMC just released a review of Literacy Week, so I wanted to link to it here. Mark Justice and the team over there is really wonderful in how they handle this, and how they provide author visits to a huge number of elementary students at no cost to their schools. This also gives me … Continue reading Follow-up to Literacy Week
Stuck in School Tube!
I was excited about squishy circuits--a teaching tool for electricity designed by AnnMarie Thomas--that I discovered while researching a new project I'm doing. I brought it in to my daughter's school to show my maker-librarian friend. She whips out her phone and starts recording me as I'm talking, and then posts it to School Tube! … Continue reading Stuck in School Tube!
Half-way Through Cobb EMC Literacy Week!
I have been having such a good time visiting schools for Literacy Week! I went to Dowell Elementary on Monday, Brumby on Tuesday, and today I saw some fabulous third, fourth, and fifth graders at Birney Elementary. Cobb EMC has been wonderful--right down to providing huge banners that make all of us authors look like … Continue reading Half-way Through Cobb EMC Literacy Week!

Fizz, Boom, Read!
It's been such a busy summer that I haven't posted about any of my work. But I would definitely be remiss if I didn't mention my upcoming appearance at the summer reading finale for the Cobb County Libraries. It's open to the public, and everyone is welcome. You can see the line-up here, and it … Continue reading Fizz, Boom, Read!
NSTA and Primary Sources with the Library of Congress
I had a great time at NSTA last week. I especially enjoyed meeting Ed Linz (of Team Teaching Science), Mary Bigelow (of Rise and Shine), and Mike Bowen and Tony Bartley (of The Basics of Data Literacy). Thanks, guys! I also want to point out that Waynesburg University (through the Library of Congress) is running … Continue reading NSTA and Primary Sources with the Library of Congress
