I went to Alaska this summer. It was a grand adventure. Among other things, we visited some mushers who compete in the Iditarod and heard about their adventures. I came across a truly unique teacher adventure–apparently, there is an official “Teacher on the Trail” each year, and you can apply to be that teacher here.
There is quite a bit of money involved in applying–if you are a finalist, you attend an interview in Alaska at your own expense (if you are selected, the return trip for the Iditarod is covered.) But I decided to post the adventure anyway, because it’s such a unique opportunity for any teacher (or other educator, it appears) who has always dreamed of mushing.
